NEW YORK, NY — July 14, 2026 —The Charles H. Revson Foundation today announced the election of Carl Weisbrod to its Board of Trustees.
One of New York City’s most respected and consequential civic leaders, Weisbrod brings more than five decades of experience shaping the city’s neighborhoods, economy, and public institutions through a distinguished career spanning government, nonprofit leadership, philanthropy, and the private sector.
Weisbrod has held many of New York City’s most consequential leadership positions. He served as Director of the New York City Department of City Planning and Chair of the City Planning Commission, where he oversaw the city’s long-range planning and land use agenda. Earlier in his career, he was the founding President and Chief Executive Officer of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, helping establish the city’s modern economic development framework, and later served as the founding President of the Alliance for Downtown New York, where he led Lower Manhattan’s revitalization.
His leadership has also included serving as President of Trinity Real Estate, Partner at HR&A Advisors, Senior Fellow at NYU’s Marron Institute of Urban Management and currently as Senior Advisor to HR&A Advisors. Across these roles, Weisbrod has advanced affordable housing, neighborhood planning, economic development, and public-private partnerships that have shaped New York City’s growth for decades.
In addition to his executive leadership, Weisbrod has served on numerous nonprofit and civic boards, including as a Trustee of the Ford Foundation, Chair of the New York State Health Foundation, Trustee of the Urban Land Institute, Director of the Trust for Governors Island, Trustee of New York Public Radio, Board Member of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Chair of New York City’s Quadrennial Advisory Commission. Weisbrod holds degrees from Cornell University and New York University School of Law.
