The Charles H. Revson Foundation strives to expand knowledge, advance democratic values, and strengthen the public good. Through grants and fellowships in Biomedical Research, Education, Jewish Life, and Urban Affairs, we invest in a vibrant civic society that can meet the material, social, and spiritual needs of diverse communities.
The Biomedical Research program is devoted to strengthening experimental basic research in the biomedical sciences. It focuses primarily on supporting postdoctoral researchers in the New York metro area through two competitive fellowship awards. The Senior Fellowship in Biomedical Science supports outstanding researchers in their third or fourth years of postdoctoral studies at participating New York Metro area research institutions. Additionally, through Burrough Wellcome Fund’s Postdoctoral Diversity Enrichment Program (PDEP), the Revson Foundation funds up to five awardees in the New York metro area per year, with the goal of promoting diversity and innovation in the biomedical sciences.
The Education and Urban Affairs program invests in the future of New York City. Through these portfolios, Revson seeks to strengthen our essential civic squares, the institutions and infrastructure that promote an informed and engaged citizenry.
Working in Israel and North America, Jewish Life invests in organizations helping to meet social and spiritual needs of diverse communities, particularly in multi-faith and public settings. Signature efforts include the Opportunity Fund in Israel, which expanded national civic service to marginalized youth through a unique public-private, US-Israel partnership, and the Center for Pastoral Education: a Jewish address for chaplaincy and multi-faith spiritual care at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. Current priorities include creating a pipeline of urban planners from Israel’s Arab sector and enhancing the work of Jewish community chaplains in North America.
