WNYC’s Brian Lehrer discusses the challenges facing NYC’s public libraries with the presidents of the New York, Queens, and Brooklyn Libraries

Linda Johnson, president and CEO of The Brooklyn Public Library, Thomas Galante, president and CEO of Queens Library, and Anthony Marx, president of New York Public Library, discussed with WNYC’s Brian Lehrer the common issues facing their systems and how the libraries are keeping pace with technological and demographic changes in the city. Despite the fact that New Yorkers of all stripes and in all boroughs rely on library services to an unprecedented degree, the financial support the city’s public libraries receive from city government decreases each year. The NYC Neighborhood Library Awards will honor five outstanding branch libraries from Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Queens.
