On Monday’s Brian Lehrer Show, Bridget Quinn Carey, COO of Queens Library, and Farhana Yasmin, Queens New Americans patron, discussed the services the public libraries provide for new immigrants and English language learners. Providing another unique perspective, Adriana Blancarte-Hayward, manager of the New Dorpbranch of the NYPL on Staten Island, tells her story of being an immigrant from Mexico who went from attending her library’s English language learning programs to managing a branch.
